PUBLIC NOTICE
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Chief District Judge Beth Phillips has approved the closing of the public counters for the United States Court Clerk’s Office, effective Monday, April 6, 2020. The Clerk’s Office remains open to assist by telephone. If you need assistance, please contact our District Court office at 816‐512‐5000 (Kansas City), 573‐636‐4015 (Jefferson City), and 417‐865‐3869 (Springfield). E‐mail inquiries may be directed to kcgen@mow.uscourts.gov, jcgen@mow.uscourts.gov, and spfdgen@mow.uscourts.gov. A drop box is available in the lobby of the Charles Evans Whittaker Federal Courthouse in Kansas City and on the 1st floor of the Federal Courthouse in Springfield and Jefferson City for documents that cannot be electronically filed or mailed. Items in the drop box will be collected and dated/filed on Mondays and Thursdays. Money in any form should not be left in the drop box. Checks and money orders may be mailed to our office at 400 E. 9th Street; Suite 1510; Kansas City, MO 64106. Any payments in bankruptcy cases must be in the form of a cashier’s check or money order.
Criminal debt payments can be made online using your checking or savings account. Please send an email to Restitution@mow.uscourts.gov to request additional information. Include your name and case number with your request.
Cash payments will not be accepted until further notice.
Effective Tuesday, April 7, 2020, the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Offices will close their public office doors in all three divisions. For assistance, please contact your assigned officer or for other matters please use the following contact numbers. For Kansas City please call (816) 512-1300, for Springfield please call (417) 831-4494, and for Jefferson City please call (573) 634-3293.
Nullified by the above Notice: Effective March 24, 2020, the Western District of Missouri’s District and Bankruptcy public windows at all locations will have the hours of 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday through Friday. Outside of these hours, documents and pleadings may be placed in the drop box located in the courthouse lobby and will be deemed filed that day. Phone calls will continue to be returned between the hours of 9:00 and 4:30.
