Starting mid-May, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) will begin implementing multifactor authentication (MFA) to enhance system security for CM/ECF and PACER. MFA provides an added layer of security to accounts by helping protect against cyberattacks and other security risks. The AO expects to have fully implemented MFA for all CM/ECF filing users by the end of 2025. Users with only PACER access to view documents will have the option to enroll in MFA, but it is not required. From mid-May to the end of 2025, users who do not voluntarily enroll will be randomly selected to do so during login. By the end of 2025, everyone with CM/ECF-level access will be required to use MFA when logging in. For more information, please visit the PACER website.
