Notice Regarding the Canadian Mail Strike

Due to a postal worker strike in Canada, bankruptcy noticing has been impacted. The Bankruptcy Noticing Center (BNC) has attempted delivery, but all notices are being held at the Canada/U.S. border and will not be delivered until the postal strike ends. Accordingly, Canadian recipients have not received court-issued notices since September 26, 2025. Nor have Canadian recipients received notices electronically as electronic noticing is unavailable to international recipients.

Beginning October 2, 2025, the BNC began to bypass notice recipients if the last line of the address contained the word "Canada." When notice recipients are bypassed, no paper notice is mailed to the bypassed recipients, the BNC notifies the debtor's attorney of mail that is bypassed as undeliverable, and the BNC Certificate of Service indicates recipients who were bypassed as undeliverable.

Counsel should be aware if any opposing party or entity on the creditor matrix in their cases is from Canada so that accurate representations of service of process are made.
