CM/ECF Next Generation 2017 Application Information

Please mark your calendars -- NCBJ's NextGen Program will accept nominations for its 2017 class on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 between noon - 5:00 p.m.

NextGen is an important part of NCBJs Annual Meeting, to be held this year in Las Vegas from October 8-11, 2017. Each year, NextGen provides 40 up-and-coming bankruptcy practitioners with exclusive substantive programs, including a judicial roundtable, which affords NextGen participants the chance to interact with judges in a small-group, informal setting, as well as networking and social events that include NextGen alumni. This year, NextGen participants also will have the opportunity to play a meaningful role in one of NCBJ's open sessions.

  • All NextGen nominees must meet the following qualifications: five to ten years of experience practicing law (including clerkships);
  • at least fifty percent of his/her practice devoted to bankruptcy cases;
  • demonstrated excellence in the practice of bankruptcy law; a serious commitment to principles of civility, ethics, and professionalism; and
  • demonstrated commitment to the continued educational development of bankruptcy professionals and to professional activities that will benefit the public, members of the bar and the court system.

The members of 2017's NextGen class will be randomly selected from all timely submitted nominations; thereafter, the NextGen committee will verify each selectee's qualifications.

Only one attorney from any single law firm or agency may participate. Each NextGen participant bears his or her own costs in attending the Annual Meeting, but there is no additional charge associated with NextGen programming, other than for an optional dinner following the NextGen roundtable and networking reception. NCBJ registration fee waivers, as well as assistance with travel costs, are available to the first five income-eligible participants.

Additional information and instructions on how to nominate a participant are available on the NCBJ website at http://www.ncbj.org.
