What is a Section 341 Meeting of Creditors? Section 341 of the United States Bankruptcy Code requires that a meeting of creditors be held in every bankruptcy case. The purpose of the meeting is to allow creditors and the bankruptcy trustee to question the debtors concerning their assets and liabilities and other matters involving administration of the bankruptcy estate. All debtors must attend the Section 341 meeting, to be questioned under oath. Creditors are not required to attend, but may do so at their election. The meeting may be continued, without further notice, and concluded at a later date. The time and place of the Section 341 meeting are shown on the Notice of Bankruptcy Case, Meeting of Creditors & Deadlines.
